How do I create a crash dump file?

Sometimes other applications and hardware can interfere with Gamecaster, resulting in unexpected crashing and unwanted behavior. A dump file allows us to get a deeper look into what's going on behind the scenes, and gives us a snapshot of your Gamecaster process in its current state.

How do I create a dump file?

Creating a dump file is simple and doesn't take long at all!

Launch Gamecaster and repeat the issue. If Gamecaster is already running and your app has crashed, you can move onto step two.

Open your Task Manager. You can do this by either pressing Ctrl + Shift + ESC on your keyboard, or by going to Start > Run and typing taskmgr in the dialog.

Click the Details tab and locate Gamecaster.exe. Right click, and select Create dump file.

Copy the file path where the .DMP file was saved to, and locate that file in your File Explorer. ZIP this file by right clicking it, and then clicking Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.

Upload this ZIP to a file sharing service such as Dropbox or Google Drive. This file will be quite large, but contains necessary information to help you with.
